Born and raised in Seattle Washington, I have always been active in the outdoors and enjoyed camping, hiking, fishing and most any other "ing" that takes place in the woods or on the water.

In September of 2006, I was watching a n episode of the 70's TV show Northern Exposure, which centered around an Alaskan Native who was the last of his tribe to make Flutes. The background flute music was great but I was completely drawn in by the story of how he made his flutes and the history behind it.

Having been a carpenter for 10 years and a woodworker since I was 7, I felt the need to make a flute of my own. Everything just sort of fell in place as my wife met Matt Stewart of Stellar flutes and then I met Matt at the "Best of the Northwest" show and he allowed me to come to his shop and

learn how to make a flute. I owe Matt a huge debt of gratitude for all his time, patience and expertise that he shared with me. I later met Brent Haines and Mark Barger and after Flute Quest 2007, I have had the privilege to meet so many great flute builders and performers that my desire to build is greater then ever.

Scouting has been a huge part of my life and last spring with the help of Kent Bush of Sun Dog Flute Works, I had the chance to help teach a group of Scouts and Scout leaders how to make PVC flutes. I think the sharing was as much fun as the building.

I still live in Seattle with my wonderful wife Susan (27 years and going strong!) and we have two sons Brandon and Matthew who live in Seattle, and our youngest son Peder resides in Langhorne, PA. My job, when I am not making dust, is as President of the Porcelain Gallery. I am also an associate board member of IPWSO and a commissioner for the Aurora District, Chief Seattle Council of Boy Scouts.
